Mostar - Bosnia & Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina has got to be one of the most underrated countries in the Balkans. It may not have much of a coastline (Yes, it has a tiny part of the Adriatic Coast), but the vibrant green mountainous landscape and brilliant blue rivers will take your mind off of the ocean for a bit. We didn't get to spend much time here, however, our road trip to Mostar gave us a little taste of what the country has to offer.

First, Bosnian food is delicious. Try the stuffed onions: great for the taste buds, horrible for the breath. Second, walk everywhere! The town itself is unlike anything I've experienced, where a river physically separates the Christian quarter from the Muslim quarter. The biggest draw for most is probably the iconic Mostar Bridge, and while it definitely steals the show, there's still a lot more to see! From stunning bush walks to cool street art and markets, it's clear to see why Mostar is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I'd recommend staying the night so you could properly see the town when it's not being overrun by tour groups in the afternoon. Grab a seat under the bridge, enjoy a coffee or a hookah and savor the moment! This will also give you a great spot to observe the bridge divers!
